Projet Décolonise le volontariat !

Solidarités Jeunesses est partenaire depuis 2022 du projet Decolonise ! coordonné par le Comité de Coordination du Service Volontaire International (CCSVI) et International Cultural Youth Exchange (ICYE) le projet est financé par l’Union européenne.

Partant de divers constats, tels que la non-réciprocité, l’inégalité des échanges ou le manque d’outils des organisations dites du Nord pour aborder la question décoloniale, le projet vise à porter un regard critique sur des pratiques du volontariat international, qui, bien que partant de bonnes intentions, sont encore grandement influencées par l’histoire coloniale. 

Ce projet rassemble 10 organisations de volontariat actives sur 4 continents : les réseau ICYE et CCSVI, IBO Italie, ICYE Autriche Grenzenlos, ICYE- Finlande, SCI Projets Internationaux Asbl Belgique, Volunteers Initiative Nepal, Solidarités Jeunesses France, ZWA Zimbabwe, Fundacion SES Argentine.

Il a pour ambition de créer un cadre de réflexion et des outils pour aborder la pensée décoloniale et intersectionnelle dans les organisations de volontariat international, le tout dans un contexte de changement climatique.

Pour mener à bien ces objectifs, le projet sera échelonné en plusieurs événements et activités :

💬 les « online dialogues », qui se sont déroulées durant les mois d'août et septembre, rassemblant des personnes de tous les horizons et de tous pays confondus : ex-volontaires, bénévoles, sympathisant.es, salarié.es pour aborder des sujets tels que le néo-colonialisme , les privilèges, l’appropriation culturelle, …

🔎 une recherche-action va être menée tout au long du projet avec la mise en place d’un parcours de formation pour être acteur.ice de cette recherche (une formation du 13-17 février à Bruxelles, suivi d’un laboratoire en Italie début juillet)

Un groupe de travail avec des personnes de différentes organisations a pu travailler sur ce processus de recherche-action-participative

👩🏽‍💼 une stratégie de plaidoyer va être déployée, en commençant par une semaine de formation, du 20 au 25 février à Paris pour construire un plaidoyer sur ces questions

 Since 2022, Solidarités Jeunesses is partner in the Decolonise! project, coordinated by the Comité de Coordination du Service Volontaire International (CCIVS) and financed by the European Union.

Based on various observations, such as the non-reciprocity, the inequality of exchanges or the lack of tools of the so-called Northern organisations to address the decolonial issue, the project aims to take a critical look at international volunteering practices, which, although starting from good intentions, are still greatly influenced by colonial history.

This project brings together 10 volunteering organisations involved in 4 continents: the ICYE and CCSVI networks, IBO Italy, ICYE Austria Grenzenlos, ICYE- Finland, SCI Projets Internationaux Asbl Belgium, Volunteers Initiative Nepal, Solidarités Jeunesses France, ZWA Zimbabwe, Fundacion SES Argentina.

The aim of the project is to create a framework for reflection and tools to address decolonial and intersectional thinking in international volunteering organisations, all in the context of climate change. To achieve these objectives, the project will be divided into several events and activities:

💬 the "online dialogues", which took place in August and September, bringing together people from all walks of life and from all countries: ex-volunteers, volunteers, supporters, employees, to discuss topics such as neo-colonialism, privilege, cultural appropriation, etc. - a study session will take place in Austria, from 9 to 14 October 2022, to look in greater depth at the topics discussed during the online dialogues and to devise tools collectively

🔎 action research will be carried out throughout the project: a training course will be set up to be an actor in this research: a training course from 13 to 17 February in Brussels, followed by a laboratory in Italy at the beginning of July
