BACKGROUND: Sayap Sehat orphanage is an independent and religious foundation located in Legokkalong village, Pekalongan. The orphanage received 714m2 of land and planned to optimize the land as a fruit garden. There are already some fruits e.g. mango, durian and rambutan but most of land is still not maintained and the orphanage want to grow more tropical fruits and herbal plants in the land. The fruit garden is also a form of education for children in orphanage and children in the area of the orphanage how to grow their own crops. AIM: Maintain organic fruits garden in order to generate income and food for children the orphanage.



GREAT is a non-profit NGO which organizes international workcamps in Indonesia and promotes peace through international voluntary service for youth. GREAT dream is to give the opportunity to all youth without exceptions and discrimination to access global education and experience of long-life learning through voluntary service. Mottoes of GREAT are "Think globally, act locally" and "Individually we change our selves. Together we change the world". GREAT vision is that the young generation is the agent of change toward the world friendship and peace. GREAT aims are - To promote volunteering activities as part of non-formal learning - To bring people around the world from different race, language and culture to work together - To learn how to protect the environment and to live sustainably - To know local issues in other countries to create sense of togetherness and sense of belonging as citizen of the world - To understand about other cultures from different countries to create peace.


Growing fruits and herbal plants and educational activities for kids at Sayap Sehat orphanage.

Logement & Nourriture

ACCOMMODATION will be in the host family provided by Sayap Sehat Children Care; volunteers will have private room, shared bathroom and toilet. FOOD is prepared by Sayap Sehat Children Care.

LOCATION: Pekalongan Region Central Java Indonesia. There are local nature beauty in the region like water falls, forest, tea plantation, etc. Also it is Batik City MEETING POINT: Pekalongan Train Station at arrival hall , Central Java, Indonesia, on volunteer’s arrival date, at 12.00 midday, Contact Area Manager Pekalongan (Mr) M.Baihaqi at +62 81578794443; Contact Incoming Staff at NEAREST TERMINAL: Pekalongan Train Station, Central Java, Indonesia.


REQUIREMENT: Enjoy outdoor activities. Love children. Enjoy to make new initiatives and able to work alone and with team. Online interview will take place during the application process. LANGUAGE: English and Indonesian. Volunteer must learn Indonesian prior to his/her departure. REMARKS: WEATHER can be up to 40 degree Celsius with 80% humidity. Less hygiene condition. STARTING DATE: Every month. Except June. MIN. DURATION: 2 months.

Notes Supplémentaires

Participation fee: For the first month: IDR 4.000.000 (EUR 240), and then IDR 3.700.000 (EUR 225) per extra month. 60% of the fee covers the "During LMTV" costs (on arrival training, meals, daily transports, support peer volunteer system of GREAT, support project material for volunteers, GREAT t-shirt, emergency response, support for visa extension). 40% of the fee covers "Pre & Post LMTV" costs (need assessment, organizing meeting with local partners, local community, and local authorities), and "Donation for GREAT" (- To organize other events like capacity building for local volunteers, partners, staff members - To contribute to office needs and taxes, volunteer house rent and maintenance, staff salaries - To pay membership fees of Regional and Global Networks, and costs of international meetings - To cover website and social media maintenance and development, and other promotions events of IVS in Indonesia.
