Local partners are municipalities (Alfas del Pi, Altea and Calpe). As soon as the project kicks off we will try to involve local environmental associations.

Travail

Save the area from desertification, start carbon offset and preserving traditional rural activities! The Spanish Mediterranean area is prone to desertification. Afforestation with an autochthonous plant in different zones in La Marina, essentially for: Basically we will plant trees and bushes in remote areas where reforestation cannot be done with machines.  Recovering burnt spaces;  Improvement of protected areas;  Signposting of traditional livestock trails that could be used for transhumance (rural tradition and culture; these paths were traditionally used to guide cattle to fresh meadows);  Improvement of shrub species for the promotion of beekeeping;  Natural space conditioning.  Fighting desertification in Spain, specially affected on this issue. *Working time will be 5-6 hours per day, leaving weekends free. Plan for 2018: 1. Afforestation of the zone 2. Signposting of traditional transhumance trails 3. Preservation and promotion of traditional rural activities

Average temperatures are between 18 and 25 Celsius degrees from September to November. The main economic sector is tourism. Trekking, hiking, swimming, having parties, discover regional culture… the area is full of mountains and lies on the Mediterranean sea.

Fee to be paid in USD per month (if any): 250 USD/month (about 200€) covering meals and local transport. Accommodation will be managed by De Amicitia. * All personal expenses, visa, and other food and beverages beyond those provided should be covered by volunteers .
