Music and Arts expression has been used for ages in various audiences as a vehicle to deliver messages. Its role in human life needs no overemphasis since it affects all aspects of human kind. Arts and Music project for community action is a very unique project that is expected to bring together volunteers with or without skills in Arts/Music but with passion to stimulate positive change in the society. The project goal is to develop and create meaningful events and performing arts programs embodying development through culture, the natural outcome of creative people collaborating to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs). Through Arts and Music increased awareness of positive use of available resources including our own talents to bring sustainable future is expected among the volunteers and the host community.
Volunteers on this project will be engaged in a number of activities aiming to support various community development actions. These will include:- Information and Education: Assisting is developing Artistic, creative material and actions in addressing three main issues (Reduced environmental impact, increased health and well-being and Increased environmental and sustainability literacy. This could be drawings, creative Posta, exbhition, music etc. depending on the interest and skills of the volunteers in the team. Arts and Music Workshops: Participate in various gatherings of project volunteers, Local musicians, artists and other interested community members to create understanding of what is music, the power of music and arts, Importance of music and arts in our lives. Volunteers are expected to bring information from their own community for sharing during the workshops. In Action: Partially participate on physical activities in the community like school clean ups etc. This is an opportunity to interact and get to know better the local culture.
Logement & Nourriture
Meals: Three meals will be provide each day at the accommodation including vegetarians. We will have kitchen volunteer responsible in meals preparations, however volunteers shall also be expected to help in meals preparation and dish washing. Accommodation: At the communal house in the community. Rooms will be shared between 3-4 people, no bed but mattress on the floor (Comfortable enough). Water and electricity will be available. No washing machine available.

Mtwara is one of the fast growing Municipality in Tanzania due to recent gas discovery. The Municipality is located on the coast of south-eastern Tanzania, along the rugged patch of coastline that leads to the country’s border with Mozambique. The town of Mtwara acts as a gateway into Southern Tanzania for tourism and business alike. Access to and from Dar es Salaam is easy with frequent and regular flights, daily buses and sailings. Most social services which are needed in town like Banking, telecommunication, health and shopping are available. Mtwara town has increased in size rapidly over the last few years due the oil and gas development in the Region. It is the last Region south of Tanzania sharing boarder with Mozambique after the great Ruvuma River. Mtwara has excellent beached and world class diving in Mnazi Bay Marine Park. This is possibly the best in Tanzania. There is also historic old town of Mikindani. To visit Mtwara is home to the Makonde tribe who are famous as wood carvers. The Makonde pateau may be visited as day trip from Mtwara. There is also a possibility for eco and cultural tourism in Kilwa as well wildlife safari to the Selous game reserve which is expanded to the southern Tanzania.
Motivation letter: ML should respond to the following questions; why would you like to participate in this project? (Your main motive), How do you plan to contribute to this project? What do you hope to learn and gain from this experience? How will you make advantage of this experience for the “next step” in your life? Note: The project is not only for Arts and music professionals, but for those who are interested as well to learn and discover their talents, just want to be there, eager to learn and adopt, flexible and open minded. Invitation letter: You need to have official invitation letter from UVIKIUTA before starting visas application process and fights booking. Engagement contract: This document need to be signed before starting visas application and flights booking process. Visas: Visas can be obtained at the airport on arrival, boarder entries, and Tanzania Embassies and consulate nearest to you. Present the invitation letter to receive the right visas for your project. Vaccination and medical service: Visit your doctor for medical information and requirements before coming. Do not trust much internet information. Please keep in mind that according to Tanzanian law, volunteers who want to do their projects in Tanzania will have to get business visa that costs 250€
On arrival to Tanzania, you will be picked up by our staff, Local volunteer, or Transport service provider agent. After arrival you will be brought to the Youth hostel or host family at the Eco-Village to receive orientation before starting the project. Provide your travel information at least seven working days before the project start. This should include Arrival date, time, flight or other means of transport number and destination (Terminal).Please be advised that, we can ONLY provide pick services from the following points:- Dar Es Salaam, Julius Nyerere International Airport Dar Es Salaam, Railways Station, Dar Es Salaam, Main bus Terminal Dar Es Salaam, Ferry Station Dar es Salaam, any accommodation facility within Dar es salaam city centre Meeting point, date and time: Volunteers will be picked at YWCA restaurant located along Ghana Avenue Dar es Salaam on the 17th March 2019 at 15:00 hrs. Local time (Please let us know if you cannot make it on time). If you wish to arrive earlier in Dar es Salaam or stay longer after the project you can book your own accommodation but we can also provide help when requested. Note: Going direct to the project site, community by yourself is discouraged.
