Purpose: Your workcamp will be filled with exciting trips, wonderful people, and many challenges. Leading Sprout trips is hard work, but very rewarding. We hope you will enjoy leading our trips for people with special needs and that you will leave the Sprout workcamp with a strong sense of fulfillment. We are looking forward to working with you! Travail

Volunteers will co-lead small groups of adults with special needs on short vacations to various destinations. Responsibilities include ensuring safety, providing emotional and physical support, enhancing fun, budgeting, driving and activity planning 24 hours a day while on trips. Volunteers must be willing to assist with all Adult Daily Living skills (brushing teeth, separating dirty clothes, showering etc.). This is very challenging work, yet also very rewarding and fun. Experience working with this population is an asset but not required. Training will be provided. Between trips, some light office work or assistance is required. STUDY THEME: Traveling with disability.

Logement & Nourriture

ACCOMMODATION: While on trips you will stay in hotels. In between trips, you will stay at a youth hostel. Volunteers will be responsible for their own meals, transportation and activities when not on a trip. While on trips, leaders will stay in hotels and eat all meals in restaurants as a group. All 3 leaders (male and female) will share one room at the hotel. Between trips, when the volunteers are in New York City, they will stay at the American Youth Hostel. Volunteers will be responsible for their own meals, transportation and activities when not on a trip. The hostel offers shared accommodations (dormitory style) with shared shower, cooking and laundry facilities. The hostel does not allow sleeping bags or bed sheets since they provide sheets and blankets. Sprout will pay for your accommodation on trips and in New York City for the entire duration of your workcamp based on the agreed dates.

Emplacement & Temps libre

Between trips, leaders will receive some free time to explore New York City, which is easily accessible via public transportation. Local leaders will be able to help volunteers find the best places to relax and enjoy their time. Volunteers can visit the many tourist attractions such as the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square or the many Broadway shows, sporting events, museums or dance performances available in New York City. LEISURE ACTIVITIES: In between trips, you will have minimal time to explore NYC TERMINAL: New York City, New York.
