MLTV1903-3 Buddhism Community – Songkhla is created for working at Wat Pa Rattaphum where it is the Buddhism temple. It is located in the local community. The temple welcomes all the people to meditation practice and Buddhism learning every day. People can do in one day of meditation or stay overnight at the temple as long as they would practice for meditation. There is not only Thai people come to learn meditation and Buddhism way, many Buddhist people who are the foreigners from Asia and Europe always come to learn. The monks are very important to communicate with the learners. There is a monk who can communicate in the English language fluently, they need to volunteer to improve English communication to another monk and nun. Also, the local people who always come to help the temple can learn. On the other hand, the volunteer can learn about the Buddhism way, the local culture and Thai tradition among the fresh atmosphere in the temple and community.
The volunteers are expected to learn and practice meditation in the temple. During learning in the temple, they can learn more Buddhist with the monk, nun, and the local people who always come to practice meditation. Besides, If the volunteers need to give a chance to teach English, they can teach in the temple for the local people. If the volunteer comes to work the project during June – September, and November – February, the volunteer can join in the school. The volunteer can find more summaries activity is below. • The volunteers will support temple and community activities and Buddhism learning. • Practice meditation with the local people. • Teaching Basic English to the monk at the temple and local school in the community. • Renovation work, clean up the temple. • Preparing for the ceremony together with local Thai.
Logement & Nourriture
The volunteers will stay at the temple dormitory, separate female, and male. The volunteers cook and eat with local in the temple.

There are many beautiful tourist attractions in Songkhla province. We would like to recommend the Hat Yai Municipality Park, Samila Beach, and Songkhla Old Town. Hat Yai Municipality Park – The biggest public park in Hat Yai city where the local people come to take a relax. Moreover, there is a big Buddha on the top of the Ko Hong hill around the area of the public park. You can take the public car at the park to the hill. There you can see the beautiful view of Hat Yai city. Samila Beach – The main beach of Songkhla province. There is full of history and storytelling about the Samila Beach and the small islands from the beach. Songkhla Old Town – The original town of Songkhla can tell many stories in that period. • Meditation clothes, every shirt need to cover the shoulders, trousers for man and skirt for the woman, the skirt should cover your knees. It’s better if you can bring the white ones. • Flip-flop • Medicine as you think necessary • Mosquito repellant • Toilet paper (you can buy at the local shop in the village)
Respect culture, open mind, and love to learn and share. Volunteers who apply for this project will be invited to participate to a « session de préparation au départ ». During this session, many things will be discussed as the volunteering projects, your fears and motivations, the intercultural shock, some practical aspects, ect.
