Travail
It is important to make Galicia known to volunteers, Medieval Galicia (Pambre Castle), Chivalry Galicia (Vilar de Donas and the Tomb of the Knights of Santiago), Romantic Galicia of the Palaces de Ulloa but the most important reasons why this work camp is set up are:
- Enhance the energizing effect of the Camino de Santiago.
- Create a habit of service to pilgrims.
- Accustoming the local population to recover a sense of voluntariness regarding the fact that the volunteers are going to do a series of jobs for the benefit of the community and it always attracts local attention that people from all over the world contribute. During this work camp the volunteers in their daily bike tour, will give information about the Camiño, stages, support and encouragement. Actions will be undertaken to prepare trails around the route. In the area of the Os Chacotes pilgrims' hostel, revitalizing actions will be carried out consisting of the organization of activities for pilgrims (talks, colloquia, workshop,...).
- We will make a Web-app of the Camiño: for the diffusion of the work camp and to spread the fact of the pilgrimages.
- Preparation of a route to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the Vilar das Donas Church.

Palas de Rei is an inland municipality in the province of Lugo. It is about 30km from the capital of Lugo and 65km from the Galician capital, Santiago de Compostela.
The history of Palas de Rei is intimately linked to the castrexa culture, still preserving today numerous archaeological remains (mámoas, dolmens and forts) witnesses of a remote settlement. According to tradition, the municipality owes its name “pallatium regis” to the palace of the Visigoth king Witiza, who reigned between 702 and 710. In Palas, Witiza would have killed the Duke of Galicia, Favila, father of Don Pelayo.
