DaLaa 6804 VSC (Kids holiday camp and Songkran festival) Solidarités Jeunesses

During those 2 weeks, we want to organize children’s activities at DaLaa Voluntary Service Community in Kok Sak village for Thai children from 7 to 13 years old. The activities and camp’s daily life organized by volunteers should be strongly connected with our community values, authenticity, responsibility and inclusion. Besides, they should allow children to be in a harmonious and safe environment. English language is poorly understood by the children, so we’ll have to find possibilities to overcome this challenge with the help from our coordinator and Thai volunteers. During 13-15 April, it’s time of the most important festival in Thai culture: Songkhran festival that volunteers will have the chance to experience.

Sunday 6th of April at 10 AM at Hat Yai airport, in front of the on- arrival gate inside the building.

The volunteers should be ready to stay in a local area, and to adapt to the local conditions with only basic facilities. Be prepared of the kids’ poor English skills. Volunteers should be able to be with the kids and prepare some games and materials for activities.

Travail

1- Create fund activities for the kid such as games, sports, art etc. 2- Provide a non-formal English classes for the kid. 3- Activities with villagers: cleaning the temple area, sport activities, homemade dessert 4- Join the Songkran festival, ceremonies at the local temple and the famous water battles

Logement & nourriture

Volunteers will sleep in the tents and small huts. There will be thin mattresses, yoga mats, pillows, and mosquito nets. There are basic toilets, showers, and a kitchen. We will take time to cook together. Volunteers will be welcome to cook their own food using the ingredients available there. (No oven, only a gas and woks or pans).

• Laundry: washing machine • Water supply and electricity: available • Internet/phone access: there are WIFI at our place and mobile phone network is available • Hatyai city is about 20 km away. There is a good quality hospital. • ATM and markets are easy to reach around our place. • Clothes worn in the village: You can dress casually however you want here. However, your clothes shouldn’t be too revealing when the kids come such as deep necked shirts, super short shorts, singlets, or wearing shirts with no bras. • Language: Some coordinator could speak good English, but some can speak only basic English. Learning basic Thai and body language will be necessary.
