The aims of this Medical and Teaching Institute is to provide educational support, health care and well-being to the teenagers and adults of the centre and also lend support to their families. The centre provides an open-space, various activities, and technical support in order to promote the social, professional and cultural autonomy of the residents.

Informations supplémentaires

Basic knowledge of French would be useful as residents usually don’t speak English. However, motivation remains the most important criteria to participate in this workcamp. Language of the camp will be English. People who have mental or physical disabilities are more than welcome on this workcamp. Please, just send us a email on hosting@javva.org so we can organise ourself.

Remarques

* This project targets people who are motivated to work with persons with disability and aware that this context may be emotionally challenging. A portion of the residents indeed bear heavy handicaps. * Please also keep in mind that the centre is quite isolated. * Volunteers are invited to bring with them small activity/presentation of their native country (music, food, …).

Travail

Volunteers will be asked to give support to the residents of the centre for some basic needs (such as helping with the meals,…) and to participate in the organization of artistic and cultural activities, discussion groups, various workshops and excursions together with the centre’s staff. Volunteers will have the possibility to work with the teenagers and/or with the adults of the centre. The schedules will be flexible and will be adapted during the following weeks according to the centre’s needs and the volunteers’ proposals. They will indeed have the opportunity to suggest their own activities (games, music, recipes,...) related to their native country and/or talents, interests and wishes. You can also organised an Interculural night the last evening ! --- Residents do not have the opportunity to travel much in their lives. They will travel through you and through sharing your culture ---
