Prapai Thongchern also known as P. Yoi is a 60 years old single woman pioneer in natural living. She has a long experience in natural color textiles and starting local green markets in the province of Phatthalung (South Thailand) that have become really successful. She has restored a family land covering an area of 4 rai (1.6 acre), which used to be a peat swamp field with sago palm dense forest, and turned it into a beautiful farm named “Suan Som Rom Na Phru”. This farm is used both as a learning space and to provide her with daily fresh food and environment. The place is ideal for recharging the life energy and finding an inspiration from the simplicity in nature.

Hatyai is about 900 km South from Bangkok, 500 km North of Kuala Lumpur. You can reach Hatyai by plane, train or bus from Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. In Bangkok, be careful which airport you are flying to and from: Suwannaphumi International Airport or Donmuang Domestic Airport. They are linked by free buses, but it takes over 1 hour or more. When taking domestic flights, be careful of luggage weight limits.

By bus: from Bangkok, you must go to the Southern Bus Terminal and look for the bus to Hat Yai. Travelling by bus is faster than train, and there will also be air conditioning. You will leave in the late afternoon/evening and arrive in Hat Yai early morning. Prices are about 700-900 baht. By train: The main railway station in Bangkok is called Krung Thep Aphiwat Station. Prices depend on the class of your train. You can check the timetable of the trains at http://www.railway.co.th

The fee for a 2-weeks service is 10,000 Baht (approx. 285 Euro) + 500THB for each additional day The fee for a 1 month service is 15,000 Bahts (approx. 428 Euro) The fee will be used on one part for living expenses (gas, water, electricity, food, transport) and materials used in projects/activities and for the other part to support financially our organization. Volunteers’ fee is our only income. Participants are responsible for their own travel and all personal expenses during the free time. The host prefers NOT to host smokers

Available period: from February to October - Expected number of volunteers: 2 (from 2 weeks to 2 months)

Travail

- Agriculture (seeds conservation, planting, potting, caring, collecting, weeding, watering, composting…) - Handicrafts- P. Yoi is an expert in local culture and knows how to support the local wisdom and skills to be recognized. She is often invited to join local crafts, organize eco-tourism activities and herself practice many skills like dying clothes or basket weaving. - Learning about food processing, cooking, Thai dishes, Thai desert. - Activities with kids in the local small school. - Thai cultures and Thai language learning.

Logement & nourriture vegetarian

- Volunteers will cook meals together with the host, suitable for vegetarians. (using wooden for cooking) - Volunteers will stay in a small Thai style house, same area as the host house, mosquito nets, pillows, blankets and mattresses are provided.

• Baan Suan Som Rom NaPru is situated in Khuan Khanun District, Phatthalung province South of Thailand, most of people are Buddhist • The place is not far from the small town, where you can find all necessary things such as bank, hospital, market.
