The General Directorate of Youth, Participation and Volunteering (www.xuventude.xunta.es) is a department of the Xunta de Galicia (www.xunta.gal) whose priority is to meet the needs and concerns of the young population living in Galicia, firmly believing that youth has much to contribute to society as a whole. We work to improve the quality of life of young people in our autonomous community, developing actions and programs that benefit them, increase their well-being and allow them to improve their skill.

Meeting point: A Gudiña, train or bus station. To get to A Gudiña from Madrid by road, the service is provided by the company www.avanzabus.com. It can also be reached by train (www.renfe.es). From Santiago or from Vigo to A Gudiña, by bus with www.monbus.es or by train. The bus line that connects the airports of Peinador (Vigo) and Lavacolla (Santiago de Compostela) with their bus and train stations are www.vitrasa.es and www.tussa.org respectively.

Remarques

The incorporation to the work camp is in the afternoon of the first day and the departure the last day after breakfast. RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT: • Cleaning supplies and shower towel. • Sleeping bag and backpack for routes. • Comfortable shoes for mountain and sports shoes. • Clothing: sportswear (sweatshirts...), swimwear (swimsuit, towel, flip-flops...), warm clothing (suitable clothing to be able to do the job in case of rain or cold), water (rain jacket), work (gloves hat)

Travail

The volunteers will work to regenerate certain degraded spaces, in this case beehives and paths, and green areas to put them in value from an environmental point of view. Activities: 1.- Recovery of old beehives/albarizas (located in Prada, Xares and Riomao): They are traditional constructions whose origin is lost in time. Their function was to protect the hives and their precious honey from predators like the bear. 2. Recovery of the fort in the locality of Castromao: Castromao is a small town in the municipality of Veiga. It has a compound name, something quite common throughout the Galician geography, such as the term castro which comes from the Latin word castru which means fortified camp and the toponym or name of the place where that fortification was based, in this case, Castromao.

A Veiga is a town, in the southeast of the Galician community. Just 15 kilometers from the border with León. This municipality has the highest peak in Galicia; Pena Trevinca, whose altitude reaches 2,127 meters high. At its summit is the Pena Trevinca Astronomical Observatory, a destination that has the Starlight certificate (ideal places for contemplating the starry sky that form a network throughout the world). Several Celtic settlements are known in the area of A Veiga, belonging to times before the birth of Christ, that is why many forts can be highlighted in the landscape of the council, it is also known that there were several defensive Roman settlements near Vilaboa and Correxido. This has been discovered by the various ceramic remains found in these areas near Vilaboa dating to the second century after Christ in the area of As Silviñas. Leisure activities: - Water games on Franceses Beach. - Travel by Catamaran through the Prada reservoir. - Routes: The silence of the forest; Rivers are sources of life; Bird Ornithology Mountains; Mountain orienteering. - Night activities will take place at the Astronomical Observatory of Pena Trevinca, Destino Starlight Trevinca. https://astrotrevinca.com/
