PARTENAIRE

Terra Pindus a Social Cooperative of Collective and Social benefit, was made by hikers and people who love the mountains, in order to preserve and rejuvenate the mountain range of Pindus. Thats why they build the 800+ km long Pindus Trail, along the biggest mountain range of Greece. Their base is in Volos, but many of them live all over Greece (Thessaloniki, Athens, Pelion).

Travail

The main task is maintaining the pre-existing signalized path and its surroundings. Widening it’s clearance by pruning and digging, improving it’s structures like stairs, side stone walls, paved floor and maintaining the signalization-waymarking, using environmentally friendly materials. Depending on the group of people, it may require a coordination role, in a certain sector of the mission (pruning, cooking, activity organization). The daily work, depending on the weather is going to be around 5 hours daily. The path will be mainly inside fir forest, and the working conditions will be most of the time under shadow, except from some alpine parts further south.

Logement & nourriture

Camp at the yard of the renovated old school, Artotina.

Emplacement & temps libre

We believe that volunteering is the first step of a social, participatory process of getting to know the mountains and their surroundings, gradually leading to a trail that becomes a public property. In this manner after the work we can hike, walk, meet the locals, swim in rivers and get to know the combination of nature and tradition in Greece.
