Let's paint together - Voorst

Location De Beele has a 'handyman service'  that takes on small jobs on the site together with the youngsters. During the summer holidays, the organization would like to give the bedrooms and corridors of the youngsters a pleasant color, so that the youngsters feel comfortable in their bedroom and the corridor that leads to it. During this period, IBO volunteers will help the handyman service paint as many of the youngsters bedrooms and hallways as possible. All work will take place in consultation with and under the supervision of the organisation's employees. There will be a permanent point of contact, in addition to the project leader of the handyman service.

A beautiful color on the wall can make a significant difference for young people who cannot live at home due to complex circumstances. It can contribute to their sense of self-esteem, comfort and belonging, and promote their well-being during their stay in the living group. Here are a few reasons why:

• Promoting a sense of home: For youngsters living in groups, creating a sense of home can be essential for their well-being. A beautiful color on the wall can help create a warm, inviting atmosphere that contributes to the feeling of comfort and security.
• Personal space: By painting their bedroom a color they like or that suits their personality, youngsters can develop a sense of self-worth and identity. Having their own place within the living group that they can personalize can help them to feel better and more connected to their environment.
• Stimulation and well-being: Colors can have a powerful effect on our mood and emotions. By using carefully chosen colors, positive emotions such as peace, joy or energy can be stimulated. This can be especially important for youngsters who have experienced stressful situations and who need an additional source of comfort and well-being.
• Creative expression: Painting young people's bedrooms also provides the opportunity for creative expression. By involving the youngsters in the process of choosing colors and decorating their space, they can experience a sense of pride and satisfaction, which can boost their self-confidence.

You will stay with the group of volunteers on the Beele property. There are 2 rooms available with private sanitary facilities where men and women can sleep separately. The groceries and meals for lunch and breakfast are provided by the location. Groceries for the evening meals are provided by the volunteers themselves. Budget for this will be provided. There is a kitchen on site that volunteers can use. Volunteers are requested to bring their own sleeping mat/air mattress and sleeping bag/blanket, as well as sportswear and working clothes that may get dirty during painting.

In your free time, you can use the leisure facilities on the grounds of the Beele in Voorst, including: the fitness room, gyms, mountain bikes and the Cruyff Court/Storm track. Near Voorst are the cities of Zutphen, Apeldoorn and Deventer. Other Dutch cities are also easily accessible. You can be in Utrecht in a little over an hour and in Amsterdam in 1 ½ hours.
