PARTENAIRE

In 2018, the Association for the Renovation of the Brewery in Janovice took over the more than 200-year-old and neglected brewery in the village of Janovice near Rymarov. The brewery is located in the protected landscape area of the Jeseniky mountains. The aim of this workcamp is to reconstruct, revitalize and clean up the old brewery to fulfil the long term goal of the association – to brew their beer again for the first time since 1946 and turn the brewery into a local cultural centre for residents of Janovice.

Travail

The work will be manual and might be physically demanding (depending on your capabilities). You will be removing plaster, carrying loads of the site, mowing the grass, cleaning up the upper floors of the brewery, digging holes and working with a pickaxe. Easier work includes cutting tree branches and bushes, cleaning the area of garbage, painting, sanding wood and lacquering, raking grass and cleaning windows. It is necessary to bring clothes that can get dirty, suitable shoes and a headlamp.

Study part: You will go on a tour of the city Rymarov, learn about the brewery's history or get to know locals at a barbecue with the mayor of the town. You will have a unique opportunity to visit the Janovice chateau or the Rešov waterfalls.

Logement & nourriture

You will be accommodated directly in the brewery building, in a newly reconstructed flat. There is a bathroom with a shower and washing machine, two toilets and a kitchen. There is enough space for everyone to sleep comfortably (beds, sofa beds, sleeping mats). Remember to bring your own sleeping bag. The volunteers will cook all the meals together in the fully equipped kitchen. The local partner usually helps with cooking. There is a local grocery shop (1km away, a car ride can be arranged).
