GREEN WORLD

The Green World is a community-based organization that empowers communities through agribusiness and environment conservation activities. The organization also runs rehabilitation and economic empowerment programs in prisons. The green world is trying to make community members self-reliant through the creation of green-collar jobs within their locality to minimize rural-urban migration thus decongesting slums and creating a healthier environment. The community members are also mobilized to plant trees as a way of combating climate change and increasing forest cover to conform to government policy. The green world is engaging in rehabilitation activities in prisons to make inmates feel part of society and give them hope of starting a new life upon coming out of prison. Usually, majority of people or family members are hostile to people who are released from prison due to the mistakes they made. This project helps with reintegration into the community in liaison with the local administration. The released persons start income-generating projects as part of reintegration process. The organization is also promoting sporting activities in schools as a way of nurturing students’ talents hence creating cohesion and love within the community.
