This project is organised in cooperation with Local Action Group Krusne hory (LAG Ore Mountains) and the municipality of Kyselka. This LAG focuses on the support and development of the region through organizing and funding educational and cultural projects, connecting various stakeholders, preparing tourist brochures or co-organizing volunteer activities. Kyselka is located 11 kilometres from Karlovy Vary in the forested valley of the Ohre River and its history is associated with Heinrich Mattoni and the spa industry. This project aims to renovate cabins at Ontario Recreation Area. At this project, you will actively contribute to the achievement of UN SDG11 Sustainable Cities and Communities.

If you arrive to Prague by bus or train, take the Regiojet bus at 14:30 from UAN Florenc to Karlovy Vary - Cheb. If you arrive by plane you can take the same bus directly at the Prague airport instead, at 15:00. The bus will arrive to Karlovy Vary terminal at 16:45. There are two stops in Karlovy Vary, so make sure you get off on the second one, which is the Karlovy Vary Terminal stop. Find platform 12 and take the bus 421180 at 17:15 to Kyselka. Your camp leader will be waiting for you at the stop.

Informations supplémentaires

Bring suitable clothes and shoes for work, a raincoat and a towel. You need to respect the other people accommodated in the Ontario Recreational Area.

Beware of allergies - dust, pollen etc.

Travail

Work: The work will be mainly manual and consist of sanding the exterior and interior of the cabins, cleaning, painting and minor repairs. There will be an opportunity to apply your creativity while painting. The goal is to renovate 5 cabins in total. No previous experience is required, bring clothes and shoes that can get dirty or damaged and a raincoat. Study part: You will have a chance to meet with local citizens in the Ontario area and they will introduce you to their daily life, you will learn about the history of the village, Czech culture and nature, and you might taste the local cuisine.

Logement & nourriture vegetarian

Accommodation/Food: You will be accommodated in two cabins directly on the premises of Ontario Recrea-tional Area. Each cabin is divided into several rooms, you will sleep on beds, blankets, pillows and bedsheets will be provided. There is basic kitchen equipment in the cabin such as a cooker, a kettle, a pot, cups, glasses, etc. The bathrooms are in one building within the recreational area, you might use a washing machine if you need it. There is WIFI available. Bring your own towel. You will help with the preparation of breakfast and dinner, lunch will be provided by the local host.

Emplacement & temps libre

Location: The Ontario Recreation Area is located in Kyselka near Karlovy Vary in the western part of the country. Kyselka means acidulous mineral water which is produced in the village. It is a very popular bottled water sold in the Czech Republic called Mattoni. In Ontario Recreational Centre, there is a central building, wooden cabins, sanitary facilities, a pub, a playground, a fireplace, and a swimming pool. The phone coverage is good. The closest cities are Ostrov and Karlovy Vary, famous for the film festival, where you can find all the services such as ATMs, grocery stores and pharmacies. Leisure time: You might visit the spa areas, the Mattoni museum or the Bucina lookout tower. You might use a sports area, a swimming pool or make a bonfire. If interested, it is possible to arrange a boat trip on the Ohre river.
