Emplacement & temps libre
This volunteer camp is located in the Corrubedo dune complex and the Carregal and Vixán lagoons. The Natural Park is located entirely in the municipality of Ribeira (A Coruña). The SCI (place of community interest) also covers the island of Sálvora (Ribeira), which belongs to the Atlantic Islands Maritime-Terrestrial National Park.
Corrubedo has the largest dune in Galicia. The mobile dune of this open space between the Arousa and Muros y Noia estuaries stands out for its dimensions. The dune is accompanied by two lagoons, one saltwater and the other freshwater, with extensive associated marshes and wetlands of international importance.
Vixán, the sweet lagoon, is fed by the waters of the modest Molino stream while Carregal, the salty one, communicates with the ocean dividing the long beach in front of the rocks called Pedras da Ferreira in two. In this place there is a good natural representation of coastal ecosystems.
Vegetation typical of the dune complexes together with an interesting floral sample. In the same way, we find reeds and rushes typical of the marshes. The same happens with the fauna, in which the bird communities linked to the aquatic environment, salty or sweet, stand out: ducks, waders, seabirds and birds.
