CASA IBO - CONA (FE) ESC

The Cona Ferrara 2024 proposal is part of a European Solidarity Corps ( ESC) project. The European Solidarity Corps is the European Union s program for young people between the ages of 18 and 30 to help build a more inclusive society, provide help to vulnerable people and respond to social problems. It offers the chance to experience personal and professional learning and growth in one of the EU member states, making positive changes in the local community. It promotes the participation of young people with fewer opportunities and from disadvantaged backgrounds. The European Solidarity Corps volunteer experience can be:Individual volunteering: allows young people to participate in the daily work of the organizations for a period of time between 2 and 12 months and, in the specific case of young people with fewer opportunities, from 2 weeks and up to 2 months.Group volunteering: involves groups of 10-40 young people from at least two different countries volunteering together for between 2 weeks and 2 months. Participants can volunteer abroad or in their country of residence, engaging in projects in the areas of social inclusion, environment, culture and more. Board and lodging, travel expenses are covered and participants are, in addition, given a small contribution for personal expenses (daily pocket money).This proposal results from the collaboration with the Ali del Vento association, which operates in the field of horseback riding both with lessons inside and with rides. The activity carried out also takes on strong social value in the exercise of Animal Assisted Interventions (IAA) in favor of the disabled and on the vision of an ethical human-horse perspective and ethological approach, not based on the exploitation of the animal but on its respect and well-being as fundamental elements.In fact, all of the school s horses have special histories and left bad experiences behind. The recovered well-being of these horses constitutes a wonderful combination with the happiness of children, disabled and non-disabled, who can enjoy the relationship with these beautiful animals. Among the goals is also the development of affordable horseback riding for everyone (including adults): horseback riding can be a sport within everyone s reach and not a luxury.
