PARTENAIRE

Host organization is an Archaeological Open-Air-Museum named Zeiteninsel (Times Island). In prehistoric times there were settlements already in the valley near the river Lahn. Five different periods of such settlements during the last 11.000 years are shown and can be experienced in the open-air-museum which is not officially opened yet as there is still some work to do.It is a workcamp including German language training. In general i partly also during excursions i there will be focus on language and culture/history of Germany. Lectures will be two hours per day / 18 hours in total (excluding Saturday and Sunday and days of excursion). The training contents: Conversation training, Intercultural Diversities, History of Germany/Europe and Indo-European languages ( Wortnester ), Grammar. Language training will also depend on needs and wishes of participants. There will be professional teachers.

As the language training is not for absolute beginners, participants must be already able to communicate in German, at least at a level which ensures daily communication (A2). It is recommended to speak German as much as possible also beside language lessons as it will bring benefit to each volunteer.There is an extra-fee of 160,00 EUR to be paid upon arrival (or to be transferred in advance). A certificate for participating in the language-course will be given at the end of the camp.

Travail

Participants will be doing some construction work i building walls / plastering with clay and doing some other work upon needs on the area of the museum. Also some ancient techniques like grinding corn or bronze casting will be experienced.

Logement & nourriture vegetarian

Participants will live in a youth centre a few km away from Argenstein in another village (Wolfshausen). Cooking, cleaning, shopping etc. will be done by the group itself. Vegetarian or vegan food is possible. Like in each workcamp, accommodation, food and travel-costs for excursions are free as well as materials/copies needed for the lectures.

Emplacement & temps libre

Argenstein is a small village, 7 km away from Marburg (a historical and picturesque old university town), 90 km north of Frankfurt/Main. Close to Argenstein (direction Marburg) there is a lake (Seepark Niederweimar) for swimming, wakeboarding and other sports activities.
