Alive Festival is where excellent music meets locally produced beers and food in magnificent natural settings. The music festival is set in a mix of urban and forest surroundings. The ambitious music line-up covers indie rock, pop, electro as well as world music with a strong focus on up-and-coming bands. The intimate settings guarantee a festival experience, unlike others. You will eat food locally produced in Thy and craft beers brewed at Thisted’s brewery, Thisted Bryghus. Nature meets culture where Alive Festival each year is proud to announce new initiatives besides the festival. In previous years, guests and volunteers could enjoy Cold Hawaii’s surf school, a hike in the national park, and visits to Thisted Bryghus. 2023 is the 15th time Alive Festival will take place. Since 2009, the festival has developed from a small and locally known festival to an acclaimed festival welcoming 2500 guests and 550 volunteers. Nearest airport: Aalborg Airport. Nearest train station: Thisted Station. MEETING POINT AND TIME (Arrival): Date: 20.07.2023 Arrival Time: 15:00-18:00 The meeting point will be at Thisted Station, where we will pick you up and lead you to our festival site. Departure: Date: 03.08.2023 Departure Time: 12:00 AIR TRAVEL Arrival at Aalborg Airport: To make it to your meeting point in time, your flight must arrive no late than 16:00 on the first camp day. From the airport, you take a direct bus to the meeting point. The bus departs every hour. Total travel time from the airport to the meeting point will be approximately 2 hours. The travel cost from the airport to the meeting point is approx. 20€. Arrival at Copenhagen Airport: To make it to your meeting point in time, your flight must arrive no later than 11:00 on the first camp day. From the airport, you take a direct train to Vejle St, The train departs every hour. From Vejle St., you will take a train to Struer St. This train departs every 60-120 min. Finally, from here you will take a train to Thisted St. This train departs every 60-120 min. Total travel time from the airport to the meeting point will be approximately 6 hours. The travel cost from the airport to the meeting point is approx. 60€. Further details on travel arrangements and purchasing of train/bus tickets will be provided in your infosheet after acceptance. If you are not able to make it in time to the meeting point, please consider arriving one day early and booking a hostel.

Informations supplémentaires

We have no more COVID-19 restrictions in Denmark. This basically means that our everyday lives are back to normal, with no masks, assembly bans and test requirements. There are still a few restrictions on entry into the country, but if you are vaccinated or recently infected, then there are currently no isolation or test requirements. Be aware, that airlines might have requirements regarding COVID-19. Though our restrictions are gone, we know that COVID-19 is still a problem worldwide. We want to assure you, that you will be safe at the camps, personal boundaries will be respected, tests are still an option for no extra cost and you can wear a mask if you wish. We will of course also inform you of any changes. For security reasons, we can unfortunately not have volunteers with hearing or sight disabilities. For other physical disabilities, it depends on whether the volunteer can do manual work for several hours since the work is about construction and is very physical. English will be the only language spoken. All participants must be willing to speak English, even though being from the same country or have trouble with the English language. Try your best!

Remarques

We will advise you to bring warm clothes that are fit for outdoor work and might get dirty. Unfortunately, we cannot control the weather, so it is a good idea to bring rain clothes too.

Travail

We need your help to build the festival and take it down, therefore you will work before and after the festival. The festival takes place from 27th July to 29th July and you will have the days off to enjoy it. You will also have a day off before the festival begins in between the workdays. You will be part of a team of volunteers building the festival. It is manual work, and it will be an advantage with knowledge of tools, but it is not required. Your tasks will change from day to day, where you might help set up a stage one day, build a bar the next or carry fences. A team leader will instruct you on what to do. All volunteers on our production team meet every morning and work until the afternoon (with breaks in between). Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided on workdays. During the festival, you will be given three food vouchers each day, which you can use in our main food stand to get a meal. Our production team is unlike any other team at Alive Festival. Volunteers work together for a longer period and the spirit when building the festival is very cheery and exciting among the hard work. Many of our volunteers are returning each year to help set up the festival and they know everything there is to know about Thisted and Alive Festival.

Logement & nourriture

Sleeping facilities: The volunteers can sleep in tents or sleep indoors in a scout cabin close to the festival site. Every morning you will meet with the other volunteers at Plantagehuset located right next to the festival site. Plantagehusets lower floor is used as a gathering point for all volunteers on the days before, during, and after the festival. In the evening, when all the work is done, you can stay in the common room in Plantagehuset if you want to play a board game or just relax for a bit. Volunteers bring their own sleeping mats and sleeping bags. Volunteers also need to bring their own tents for those who want to have the full festival experience. If it’s any problem we can help the volunteers to buy these items in the city of Thisted. Kitchen AND bathroom facilities: We have a common room in Plantagehuset where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served during the days you are working. All the food we provide and serve is vegetarian. Our kitchen facilities will be preoccupied as soon as we start building the festival, so it will not be possible to cook for yourselves. During the festival, the food will not be served, though you will receive food vouchers you can use instead. There will be toilets installed at the camping area and bath facilities. There are also toilets in the scout cabin and Plantagehuset and it is possible to use the bath in a building known as URT.

Emplacement & temps libre

Alive Festival is located in Thisted, a small town in an area known for its national park essential for long walks and exploration. Not far from Thisted you will find the west coast also known as Cold Hawaii, famous for its surfing facilities. The beach, wild nature and charming surrounding towns are essential for summer vacations. In the evening, when all the work is done, you can also stay in the common room on the festival site, if you want to play a board game or just relax for a bit. Your Work Camp leaders will help you and the group with organising activities in your spare time. It is free to enjoy the beautiful nature of Thisted, but some activities might require an extra charge. The host will not cover additional charges.
