Description :

This is the tenth year -since 2008- that SEEDS organizes series of International Photo marathons.Throughout the year participants from all over the world come to Iceland for an intense Photography related camp.SEEDS coordinators work with the participants to develop their unique photographic skills through workshops andfeedback sessions on technical settings, compositional considerations as well as developing conceptualframeworks which progress the participants individual style. Please note this project is more of a learning/sharing camp and not a regular work camp; we may be able toorganize some outdoor voluntary service but it depends on our partners and weather conditions.SEEDS organises a programme that combines learning, sharing, getting to know Iceland, its culture, having fun, asexploring the capital city and some of the most stunning nature attractions in the Golden Circle excursion, whichwill be part of the camp.

When the workshop ends, we select some of our best pictures from the stay and prepare those images for aninformal group exhibition locally. While learning about photography, the participants explore Icelandic culture bytaking part in it, capturing it and also by working for the City of Reykjavik. One of our objectives is to delivermessages and draw the attention to the locals through pictures made in the camp.Participants should arrive ready to shoot and should bring with them their own digital cameras, lenses and laptopsif possible. They should be prepared for walking and visually exploring the city streets and working within a flexibletime schedule. Participants will be photographing in their free time outside of workshop hours with images to bediscussed at group feedback sessions.Logement & nourriture: SEEDS participants will stay in an equipped house in Reykjavík, which is located about 4kilometers fr om the centre of the city. The facilities are basic with a shower, washing machine, kitchen and everyone is expected to show considerationfor their companions. We will sleep in shared rooms and participants shall bring their own sleeping bag.Participants from other projects may also stay in the house for part of the time.Participants will receive food supplies and be in charge of the cooking and cleaning activities. Do not forget sometraditional/typical f ood a nd r ecipes f rom y our home country for the i nternational evening.Emplacement & temps libre: Reykjavik is a dynamic, modern city which lives in harmony with beautiful nature, using renewableenergy sources - geothermal power and glacial rivers. The world's northernmost capital bridges the Atlantic, between Europe and North America. Reykjavík is spread across a peninsula with a panoramic view of themountains and the Atlantic Ocean on almost all sides. Reykjavík is an International city with a lively Cosmopolitancultural scene surrounded with beautiful nature.Meeting time will be 18:00 (6:00 pm) on September 17 at SEEDS Office. Participants that cannot arrive on time (lateror delayed flights) will be sent information on how to reach the camp.Additional trips (eg. South shore, Hot River Hike, Reykjanes and Snæfellsnes Peninsula) can be arranged atdiscount f ares i n c ase t here i s a dditional f ree time after the workshops and sessions of the camp.Weather may be cold or rainy, so we recommend to bring warm and/or waterproof clothes as part of the projecttakes place outside.

Participation fee EUR 200 (Euros). Please note that these fees are to be paid to SEEDS on arrival in either Euros or Icelandic krónas. The fee includes transportation from the meeting point to the camp and back into SEEDS office (on the first and last day) and the Golden Circle excursion , we will visit spectacular landscapes with a geyser, an impressive waterfall, a volcano crater, the National Park of Thingvellir and more.
