Introduction
Kiwa Women Group is a community initiative that was started up by the women of Kiwa community inorder to pull up locally available resources and use them to generate income. The group engages in income generating activities such as organic farming and livestock raring. Through this, the group has been able to acquire funds which it in return uses to support their families since most of them are widows. As part of achieving the millenium development goals the group has been in the forefront of sensitizing the young women and the community at large on the emerging issues that affect thier community and the society. Through empowerment the women have found something tangible that has made them to own up with the community and feel part of it.
